Three kids. A body that didn’t feel like mine anymore.
Pain no doctor could explain in a fifteen-minute visit. Physical
therapy helped — until it ended, and I was on my own. Not
hurting enough to go back. Not ready for the gym down the
street, with its mirrors and its weight-loss-first approach that
made every change in my body feel like something to hide.
I know that gap. I lived in it.
Movement has always been my medicine. I grew up dancing —
tap, ballet, competitive country line dancing. Years later, a
studio owner pulled me aside after a class, sponsored my fitness
certifications, and put me on a stage. That changed everything —
until I witnessed practices that didn’t align with my
values. I knew there had to be a better way.
So I went back to school. I became a NASM-Certified
Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Reiki Master — combining
physical science with energetic healing, because I needed both
to find my way back to my own body. I built Heartbeat to be the
space I couldn’t find: no mirrors, no judgment, no
pressure to keep up. Just a place where every body is welcome
exactly as it is today.
